A little bit of a slow start, but once I got back to the characters and the plot, it was a really, really good read. And I am insanely curious to know what happens in book 3.įinal Rating: 4 out of 5 stars. I mean, yes, he was blood thirsty after being locked away in the sword for hundreds of years, but near the end there I did not expect him to do that. And I really have to admit that the demon Hakaimono was not what I was expecting at all.

I was able to get reacquainted with the world and characters before delving in deep into the story again. Although I am a little bit thankful for that, because the details of what happened in Shadow of the Fox were a little hazy. So I will admit that Soul of the Sword was a little bit slow and wordy for my tastes at the beginning. The illusions could only go so long before someone got wise to them. I was really sure too that Yumeko was up to her usual illusions and tricks at the end there, but I guess I should have known better. How dare you keep doing this to me? You keep making this fantastic worlds, setting up these awesome events, and just when I think everything is going to be okay and work itself out…you leave me with a blasted cliffhanger of an ending. As the paths of Yumeko and the possessed Tatsumi cross once again, the entire empire will be thrown into chaos. To overthrow the empire and cover the land in darkness, they need one thing: the Scroll of a Thousand Prayers. Hakaimono has done the unthinkable and joined forces with the Master of Demons in order to break the curse of the sword and set himself free.

The demon Hakaimono, who for centuries was trapped in a cursed sword, has escaped and possessed the boy she thought would protect her, Kage Tatsumi of the Shadow Clan.

Kitsune shapeshifter Yumeko has one task: to take her piece of the ancient and powerful scroll to the Steel Feather temple in order to prevent the summoning of the Harbinger of Change, the great Kami Dragon who will grant one wish to whomever holds the Scroll of a Thousand Prayers. It had one task: to seal away the powerful demon Hakaimono. One thousand years ago, a wish was made to the Harbinger of Change and a sword of rage and lightning was forged.
